Blog Post #4 The Pale Man
Setting and Props: The seen is set up so that the only way Ofelia can get out of the Pale Man's laire is the way she had come in, which means that she can waste all of her time that she has or the door will shut, keeping her with the pale man. In addition, the pile of childrens shoes fills Ofelia with fear, and she realizes that she could lose her life.
Lighting: As Ofelia walks in, certain things are specifically lighted more bright than others. For example, the exquisit food on the table, the three locked doors and the pale man himself. While certain things on the other hand, are dimly lit to show their darkness, such as the pile of childrens shoes that had been there previously.
Costumes and Makeup: The Pale Man is clearly made to look terrifying. He has long, thick, dark claws and his body is pale and wrinkly. He has no eyes in his head, instead they're put in his hands.
Sound: In the beginning of the video, there is no sound, keeping the viewer in suspenseful silence as they show the paintings on the wall of the Pale Man killing and eating children from the past. As Ofelia is leaving, she notices all of the food on the table and the frightening orchestra music. As she gets closer to eating the food, the music becomes more loud and noticable until she takes her first bite and the music hits its climax. When the pale man begins chasing Ofelia, the sound of his peircing screech, his claws on the table, and the sound of him putting his eyes into his hands is most prevelent to the viewer.

Blog Post #2
The font, colors and design of my blog template tie together, as well as contradict each other at the same time. I chose red because yes, it is my favorite color, but that's not the only reason. I feel that the color red portrays many different emotions, such as anger, passion, competitiveness and curiosity. I posess all of these at one time or another from time to time. Whether it's when I play sports, learning to play a new instrument or maybe I'm with my girlfriend. I chose the yellow because sometimes I like to change it up a bit and contradict myself.
When I chose my font, I wanted something that reflected my personality, layed back, loose and fun. I thought that if I chose this the reader would understand my personal viewpoint that I have on life.

According to Wikipedia, Media literacy is a repertoire of competences that enable people to analyze, evaluate, and create messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres, and forms.

Or Media literacy could also be described as the ability to understand how mass media work, how they produce meanings, how they are organized, and how to use them wisely. Media literate person can describe the role media play in his or her life. The media literate person understands the basic conventions of various media, and enjoys their use in a deliberately conscious way. The media literate person understands the impact of music and special effects in heightening the drama of a television program or film...this recognition does not lessen the enjoyment of the action, but prevents the viewer from being unduly credulous or becoming unnecessarily frightened. The media literate person is in control of his or her media experiences.

I would consider myself Media literate personally. That being said, I'm not hooked on every social network, youtube channel or any blogs for that matter. For example, I have my own Facebook profile, as many people do, and I know how to translate the media information that is put up on facebook. I also have my own account on Stumbleupon, which can give the user any kind of media that they list as one of their interests, from New York Times to The Rolling Stones. But the internet isn't the only media out there, there's television, radio, newspaper and more and that easily a majority of the population, myself included, experience everyday.

Blog Post #1
My name is Nic Neuhaus and I have lived in Cincinnati for all of my life. I have played sports for as long as I can remember, but soccer has been the longest ongoing sport, almost 13 years. It has taken me to over twenty states and even out of the country. Soccer has made me into a competitive person and gives me my drive.
My hobbies include sports, of course, hanging out with friends, cooking, and making money. I am the forth of seven children in my family, which can be hectic at times. I plan on graduating and going on to study health sciences at a school that I have yet to decide on. When I get older, I would like to travel the world and move to somewhere warm on the coast, preferably Malibu. Other than this, I have no set plans on my future, I'll just see where it takes me.
